Couples at the Crossroads: Five Steps to Finding Your Way Back to Love

The odds against marriages succeeding are devastating: almost 50% of couples who marry today in the U.S. will end up divorced. Yet, in a survey conducted a few years after couples divorced, 70% of the respondents reported that they should have tried harder and longer to save their marriages. Which begs the question, why didn’t they? The problem is, even though most people would like to save their relationships, they haven’t learned the tools or skills to turn things around. Metaphorically, their GPS system is so off that they are totally lost. If you are reading this, most probably you are one of those people who is seeking the tools and the skills to work through the pain in order to heal your wounded relationship and learn new and healthier ways of being together.

This is an excellent book. The authors do a masterful job of explaining and using the latest, most researched, theories of human relationships. They refine psychological concepts into familiar metaphors that resonate with readers. The couples in the case examples are easy to identify with and their stories are helpful. Bullet points and chapter summaries make for easy reading. As a member of the counseling profession I highly recommend this book and use it in my own practice
